Abstract [eng] Lexical Europeisms and the tendencies of their usage in five European languages (Lithuanian, Russian, Ukrainian, German, and English) is the object of this thesis. The examples gathered from five newspapers (Lietuvos rytas, Комсомольская правда, Молодь України, Frankfuter Allgemeine Zeitung, The Times) were explored according to these criteria: origin, frequency of usage, belonging to the certain part of speech, and types of borrowing. The birth and source of distribution (linguae francae languages) of lexical Europeisms are described; the instrumentarium for recognizing and typologizing lexical Europeisms is composed in the thesis. The types of lexical Europeisms are determined: zero substitution (linguae francae Europeisms), pseudo-zero substitution (original Europeisms), and lexical borrowings (Europeisms morphologically integrated); the frequency of lexical Europeisms usage is discussed. The term of ‘lexical Europeism’ is defined; the main differences between lexical Europeism and Internationalism are indicated.
