Abstract [eng] After regaining the independency and choosing the democratic way of development, the political, economical, socio-cultural, educational situation in Lithuania has strongly changed, as well as peoples mind, social values and relations between people. The attitude of the society towards a child, social welfare and children’s rights and responsibilities is changing too. This Master thesis raises the hypothesis: presumably children’s rights are being offended, the attitudes of parents and pedagogues are formal, and pupils’ possess inadequate knowledge in children’s rights and their protection issues. Such situation is caused by an insufficient application of educational assumptions together with other factor - too little attention is paid to learning of children’s rights and protection. The issues of integration children’s rights and protection are not properly integrated to the content of subjects and activities of complementary education. The work analysis the perceptions of the concepts - a child and children’s rights, as well as reveals theoretical aspects of children’s protection rights and situation of implementation process of children’s rights and their protection in the context of child’s welfare policy in Lithuania. Also the work analyses violations of children’s rights and their reasons, initiative of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Lithuania in the sphere of children’s rights protection and social policy, legislative children’s rights and protection basis of the state and the functions of the children’s rights and protection institutions. On the basis of the conducted empirical research data, the main children’s rights and protection tendencies at a comprehensive school were emphasized. The guidelines for optimisation the learning of children’s rights and their protection at a comprehensive school comprises the significant part of the work.
