Abstract [eng] The object of this work is the impact of cultural events on city image. The aim is to estimate the influence that cultural events make to city image. The main goals of this work are to examine the complexity of city image concept; to reveal the processes of city image formation and imaging; to explore the influence of events and finally to identify the city image change, influenced by cultural events. Also one of the goals is to discover how Vilnius city image is presented internet media, in the context of chosen cultural event. After reviewing the publications of different authors it may be stated that cities more often tend to use cultural events as the means for city image enhancement, city development, investment and visitors attraction. It is observed that cultural events affect city image in two ways: firstly, by stimulating city image enhancement, secondly, by promoting city re-imaging. By combining two elements of this paper: city image and culture events, cultural dimensions of city image are presented as granting image of positive characteristics. This work might be useful for professors, students and events organizers who are interested in the event caused changes of city image also event-led city impacts.
