Abstract [eng] The object of this paper is phraseology unit, - emotional and expressive device. The transformations within linguistics are best revealed by the aim of this paper – the analysis of English phraseology units structure and semantics (configuration, content) transformations of translations in fiction from English to Lithuanian language. There were selected and classified 513 phraseology examples from L.Carroll’s “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass“ and „Sylvie and Bruno“ to implement and illustrate the object. There were used the following methods to implement the set aim: comparison, statistical and descriptive. Phraseology phenomenon was reviewed and structurally illustrated in the theoretical part of the paper: stated various structural definitions of phraseologisms, their translations, methods proposed by Lithuanian and foreign linguists. The emerged transformations of phraseologisms and possible reasons of their emergence are submitted in the empirical part of the paper. With reference to the data of the analysis and structured perception of this phenomenon, it is possible to claim, that the translation of phraseology, requires thorough knowledge of one or another language. At all events, that is one of the most elaborate tasks even for the most competent translator.
