Master’s paper, basing upon Lithuanian and foreign literature, reveals semiotic properties of film, opportunities of film as propaganda instrument; describes the film industry operating principles and stages of production. The most important moments of the Lithuanian film industry before independence restoration are considered. According to experts participating in the survey responses, contemporary Lithuanian film industry position is measured, major problems are identified. The study reveals that the situation of Lithuanian film industry today is not the best; its full potential is underused. This situation is caused by many factors: poor state cultural policy; detrimental laws for local and foreign film producers; financial, economic moments, etc. Film industry development in Lithuania today, is hindered by improper approach to the cinema, its destination and opportunities. |
