Abstract [eng] |
This study presents a literature review on the impact of hysterectomy on the risk of premature ovarian failure. It will broadly discuss ovarian function - folliculogenesis and endocrine function, the hormones produced and their impact on the female body systems, not limited to the reproductive system. Ovarian failure (menopause) - normal, physiological age of onset of the process and possible symptoms will also be described. The concept of ovarian reserve and possible ways of measuring reserve will also be discussed. The most common benign gynaecological pathologies for which hysterectomy may be chosen will be reviewed, and alternative medical and non-medical methods of treatment will be presented, and their efficacy assessed. The main part of this study, which examines whether removal of the uterus in women of reproductive age may nevertheless increase the risk of premature ovarian failure, will be extensively described based on existing research and analysing the results of selected studies. It will take into account statistic data, specific indicators, which will be used to draw conclusions on the association between hysterectomy and early ovarian failure. |
