Abstract [eng] |
This master's thesis analyses aspects of femininity in the German and Lithuanian novels "The Blind Side of the Heart" by Julia Franck and "The Big Island" by Birutė Jonuškaitė. The analysis uses a comparative approach, examining and comparing the aspects and motifs of femininity in the novels themselves. The main themes analysed are the relationship between femininity and motherhood, the motifs of femininity, nature and folklore, and other aspects that influence the representation of femininity in the novels. The analysis will also take into account how the authors portray women and their femininity, whether they follow the traditional representation of women in literature or whether, like Hélène Cixous, they redefine the concept of femininity from their own feminine perspective. |
