Abstract [eng] |
The aim of this thesis is to analyse and show how a dance-movement intervention can help a pre-school child with nervous tics. The data were collected using qualitative research strategies, case study and semi-structured interviews. The case study was applied to a participant (a 3-year-old boy) who was clinically free of nervous tics, but was observed to have tic expression. The semi-structured interview method was used to interview the participant's mother in order to find out the effects of the dance-movement therapy intervention before and after the sessions. The study was carried out from 08/01/2024 to 19/01/2024 in a private development centre in Vilnius. The data suggest that the dance-movement therapy had a positive effect on the subject's self-regulation, behaviour and relationship with close people, but that there was a non-significant change in the expression of neural tics. It is suggested that more empirical research is needed to reveal the potential of dance-movement therapy interventions. |
