Abstract [eng] The use of teleworking, where the worker performs work functions remotely in agreement with the employer, has increased significantly in recent years. In Lithuania, the number of teleworkers has almost tripled between 2019 and 2023. Tausig (2013) argues that human well-being at work is influenced by the labour market and its changes, and the changes in recent years have been particularly striking. When analysing teleworking through the prism of the sociology of work, it is important to consider its impact on an individual's quality of life, social ties, psychological well-being and quality of work. The aim of the study is therefore to theoretically and empirically assess the impact of teleworking on psychological well-being and productivity at the individual level. Meanwhile, the objectives of the study are: a) To uncover the factors of teleworking that have a positive/negative impact on employees' psychological well-being. b) To carry out an empirical study by collecting quantitative data to extract the factors influencing employees' productivity and to compare the results of the different companies. c) To analyse the prevalence of teleworking in Lithuania and the EU on the basis of statistics. d) To substantiate the positive and negative effects of teleworking on productivity on the basis of an analysis of the scientific literature. This analysis seeks to highlight the impact of teleworking and how this form of work, with an emphasis on sociological discourse, affects the individual's psychological well-being, social relations and the quality of work. The literature review, empirical study and analysis of secondary statistics suggest that: a) Productivity was positively influenced by the right tools and environment, motivation, better work-life balance and positive psychological well-being of employees. b) The level of psychological well-being during teleworking was found to be positively influenced by appropriate working tools and environment, motivation, good work-life balance and regular and appropriate communication with supervisors (in one of the companies). In contrast, stress and social isolation during teleworking had a negative impact on psychological well-being. These factors, which have a significant impact on psychological well-being, reflect sociological insights into the importance of working conditions, social relationships and personal motivation. c) In smaller company (in terms of number of persons), employees have more suitable conditions for teleworking and perceive the impact on psychological well-being and productivity more positively, however, social isolation and a similar level of stress remain important challenges, while teleworking improves the work-life balance.
