Abstract [eng] The relevance of the topic is reflected in the different contexts of the meaning of the rhythm. Rhythm is found in almost every environment, but the rhythm of music is considered a key element. The training of rhythm has various benefits not only in the musical context, but also in other human activities, which is why the training of rhythm in general education schools becomes extremely significant. The importance and effects of rhythmic education are examined in various foreign scientific literature, but new scientific research is lacking in the context of Lithuanian scientific literature. The research problem is revealed by problematic questions: 1) what main methods of rhythmic education are applied in 7-8th grade music lessons? 2) what is the effect of rhythmic education on 7th grade students in music classes of general education schools. The object of the research is the importance of rhythmic education for 7th-grade students in music lessons. The purpose of the research is to investigate the importance of rhythmic education for 7th-8th grade students in music lessons. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were formed: 1) to reveal the concept of musical rhythm; 2) describe the importance of rhythmic education in the context of musical education concepts; 3) to discuss the possibilities of applying rhythmic education methods in the content of music education of grades 7-8; 4) to conduct an empirical study in order to reveal the importance of rhythmic education for 7-8 grade students. The empirical part examines the specific methodology of rhythmic education created by Carl Orff and its effect on 7th-8th grade students, based on the attitudes and experiences of educators, since in older classes it is extremely important for a music teacher to be able to interest students and involve them in rhythmic education activities. Theoretical (scientific literature and document analysis) and empirical (semi-structured interviews and content analysis) methods were used in the work. 6 music educators participated in the study. The results of the research revealed that Carl Orff's system of rhythmic education can be extremely useful for 7-8th grade students, helping them improve not only in music, but also in other areas of life, including personality development. This system of rhythmic education is also useful in the context of inclusive education, as it has an extremely positive effect on children with social educational needs. The application of this system of rhythmic education has been hindered by three main problem areas: different levels of musical literacy, lack of time and material resources, and lack of competences of music educators. Keywords: Carl Orff, music lessons, rhythmic education, 7-8 grades.
