Abstract [eng] |
Digitilization is rapidly affecting many areas of life. Education is no exception. The use of digital technologies changes the learning process, it is digitized. Paper books are digitized or created in a digital format, and various learning tasks are transferred to the virtual space. Thus, digital learning content is created that is used in learning. Creating digital learning content requires digital competencies. Their continuous improvement is aimed at a global scale. But the question is, how does this affect the learning process? The object of the study is the impact of digital learning content on teaching and learning. The master's thesis aims to determine the impact of the digital learning content created at Vilnius University on teaching and learning. The work analyzes the concepts of digitization, digitilization and digital learning content; digitilization and reasons for digitization in education; reveals the impact of creating digital learning content on teaching and learning in a theoretical context; it is identified what effect the digital learning content created and used by teachers at Vilnius University has on teaching and learning. The research included an analysis of scientific literature, an interview and a written survey. The results of the study show that the digital learning content created by Vilnius University teachers has a positive effect on their learning and teaching. The digital learning content created and improved by the teachers develops the digital competences of the teachers. In addition, the creation of digital educational content has a positive effect on teaching and learning, as it is necessary to foresee not only what material, but also how to present it, what methods and tools to use. Therefore, the creation of digital learning content has been found to have a positive effect on teaching, as it is a support tool that enables the achievement of set learning objectives. Digital learning content helps teachers to interest and involve students in the learning process, individualize tasks, it is convenient to adjust the created digital learning content if necessary and use it for remote teaching in unforeseen situations. The negative impact of creating digital learning content on teaching is singled out, due to high time costs, as it increases the time allocated by teachers to prepare for lectures or seminars. From the point of view of teachers, digital learning content can do more harm than good to teaching, when it forgets the content of the subject and focuses too much on attractiveness and interactivity, or digital learning content conveys too detailed and/or engaging content that does not encourage the student to think critically and/or to create. It can be argued that the use of digital learning content has a positive effect on students's learning, as they, like teachers, indicate the importance of using a variety of digital learning content in lectures or seminars. It has been established that digital learning content helps to understand the material of lectures or seminars, to prepare for assessments and to stimulate interest. |
