Abstract [eng] Theme topicality. Nowadays our society increasingly takes notice of teenagers belonging to different subcultural groups. Although this is published on TV, press, internet the phenomenon is usually accompanied by negative attitudes. This raises the question - who is guilty for this situation – the growing teenagers individualism, egalitarianism (equality), theatricality, spirituality, generational continuity, disagreements within the family, school failures, non-recognition among friends, protest against the society values and attitudes, insecurity, or school community, with its poor understanding of \"those\" teenagers? The student manifestations of otherness often cause conflicts, disharmony and tension among students, teachers and parents as well. Young people's self-identification with the various subcultures and the accompanying distinctive forms of expression - an extravagant look, a different approach and vision of the world - often is met by the school community negatively and with distrust. Any deviations from the \"norm\" are often eliminated, all the manifestations of otherness are suppressed without realizing that such “fight” methods are comprehensively destructive and except conflicts and tensions creates nothing else (Duoblys, 2009). As Ž. Vaidachovičienė (2005) stated teenagers experience constant psychological problems related to their age crises and personality formation as well as of self-actualization and relationship difficulties, entrenchment in formal and informal groups, and adaptation at school. The most common reasons promoting participation in various subcultures are disagreements within the family, school failure, non-recognition among friends, protest against the set values and attitudes, feeling of insecurity, and many others. Young people are looking for a \"substitute\", where they could find understanding and recognition, feel comfortable and free as well as meet like-minded persons. (Kvieskienė, 2005).Investigation object – expression of teenagers subcultural lifestyle.Aim – to confirm theoretically and investigate empirically expression of teenagers subcultural lifestyle in the general education institutions.
