Abstract [eng] Child care, socialization, education, preparation for autonomous life undergoes changes depending on internal (physical emotional environment, family atmosphere, interpersonal relations, etc.) and external institutional (legislation, subordination, financing, iner-institutional cooperation, etc.) and /or personal featured factors. Research problem is specified by questions: how children autonomous life educational content changes in foster homes; are educational activity development and socioeducational help and proper conditions assured in foster homes. Relevance of the work. Preparation for autonomous life becomes an integrated part of children social care services by helping acquire needed knowledge and skills, developing mental strength, providing emotional support, relating education to real life, orienting to future learners perspective for autonomous life. Development of children preparation for autonomous life remains a relevant and important problem of the society. Research object. Features of children autonomous life kills in foster homes. Hypothesis. It is plausible that children foster homes as a social institution mission changes: scope and variety of educational activities expand, developed educational, practical potential usage possibilities, but different target groups valuate autonomous life skills education importance differently. Goal of the research. Theoretically and empirically research foster homes learners autonomous life skills education features preparing learner for autonomous life. Tasks of the research. Performfoster home learners and social workers attitudes about autonomous life skills education analysis; summarize results of the theoretical and empirical research, formulate conclusions and present recommendations. For the research goal achievement used theoretical, empirical and statistical methods. Sample of the research -93 learners and 64 foster home employees from different Lithuanian regions and children foster homes. Research revealed: children autonomy is educated communicating with child, his family, preparing individual social care plans, giving pocket money, assuring conditions for work, educational activities, employment safe, clearly structured environment created and positive attitude to communication. Hypothesis was confirmed.
