Abstract [eng] |
A six-piece painting collection “juXta” analyses a teenage punk subculture. The goal of this collection is to convey the emotion, varying from preposterous suffering to state of euphoria. Digital photographs, computer programs and video material were used when creating the collection. A six-piece painting collection, based on the photographs and video material, was created using multilayered oil painting technique on carton and canvas. Symbols of punk subculture and primitive drawings were used in this collection, portraying the leisure activities and means of self-expression, turning into acts of vandalism, i.e. desecration of objects of cultural heritage (in this case – buildings). Expressive areas overlap with abstract figures and sustain each other. Emotions vary from nervous laughter to preposterous suffering to state of euphoria and freedom. All these states are converted into a play of colours and spots. Theoretical part of the work is based on the texts by G.Mažeikis (Subkultūrinė teorija ir kairioji kritika, Subkultūrinė rezistencija, „Sex Pistols” ir „Spektaklio visuomenė”), A.Manstanavičius’ Apie maišto pažadus vartotojų pasaulyje, as well as existential theory of hedonism. Several quotations by A.Borovoy, M.Bakunin and Ba Jin, supporting the theory of Anarchism, are provided. A six-piece painting collection “juXta” is a vision of a young person’s existence in the postmodern society. The creative process included observation of the modern environment and young people existence in it. Photographs of teenagers belonging to the punk movement were processed using computer software programs. Caught emotions were conveyed on carton and canvas using symbols, signs and expressive figurative hints, thus forming integral compositions, conveying different states and emotions. The problem of this research helps to reveal crucial social problems of a young person, existing in a postmodern society. |
