In this final Master thesis is formulated a problem: local communities activities impact for Rokiškis district rural development - activities of local communities must be conditioned by satisfaction of the most important areas of social and socioeconomic requirements. Equally, is defined impact of local communities of Rokiškis district activities for rural areas development and revealed the influence of local communities for targeted different Rokiškis town districts. In theoretical part of this work is analyzed the concept and development of rural communities, operating features, development trends, formation of local action groups and their participation in National Rural Network, the evolution of the LEADER initiative. Analyzed and systematized Lithuanian and foreign authors, scientific literature of theoretical rural communities’ development. Overviewed authors’ works about rural development, rural modern role in local communities and business trends. Identified the main problems of operating local communities in Rokiškis town and their impact for development of rural areas in Rokiškis town. According to the project \"Population structure and social - economic changes in Local Action Group of Rokiškis district area\" of Lithuanian Rural Network, Rokiškis Local Action Group, Šiauliai University and Rural Development Research Center, researches results in 2011-2013 year and made comprehensive analysis. For data collection was carried out a survey of local residents, gathered and systematized 2551 units’ questionnaires. Gathered and structured 483 units’ questionnaires about the most common myths about the personality and society in local communities, business and who planning to take the business, rural tourism and rural elders. Total processed questionnaires are 3034 units. According to the questionnaire survey, clarified the need of companies and institutions, their need of establishment in rural areas, assessed the positive and negative changes and the estimated problems in villages, estimated population engagement and participation in public life and the challenges in solving local problems. 2013 performed analysis about developing projects based on business promotion, cultural development, social and international cooperation in Rokiškis district. Finally, confirmed Master thesis hypothesis, that local communities could make a significant contribution to the Rokiškis rural districts economic and socio-cultural progress in creating community (cooperative) business projects that create new working places diversifying local economic activity, through infrastructure, encouraging individual businesses and promoting local business achievements. |
