The aim of the research is to analyse the possibilities of the events‘ development of cultural tourism in Šiauliai region. In order to achieve the aim, the research of the Lithuanian and foreign publications on the development of cultural tourism, the analysis of the events as a part of cultural tourism, 2007-2013 Masters works on the analysis of cultural tourism, the analysis of cultural events of Šiauliai region, the analysis of the expert interviews, the analysis of the documents of Šiauliai region was carried out. Two models had been developed: the model of cultural tourism indicators; the model of the system of events as a part of cultural tourism development in Šiauliai region. After summarising the results of the research, it was found that in the municipalities of Šiauliai region the development of cultural tourism is a part of strategic development in the field of culture and tourism. However, this activity faces the problems – the lack of funding, slack regional cooperation in organizing events and ensuring the appropriate infrastructure. |
