(study contains 3 tables and 9 pictures) SUMMARY Global market internationalization processes started in the last decades of the 20th century when globalization has influenced a rapid development of information society as well as the use of information technologies in various business processes. Currently, electronic trade decisions are inevitable in order to increase business efficiency and competitiveness. Electronic business provides enterprises with the possibility to expand their market share and facilitate reaching potential customers; remarkably decrease the costs of sale, supply, human resources, communication and logistics. However, electronic business installation procedure in the enterprise is rather complicated and requires a wide range of different resources, thus, at present a large number of Lithuanian enterprises still do not employ the advantages of electronic business or employ it poorly. The aim of the actual work is to research the influence of electronic business on the competitiveness of Lithuanian economy units. The target of the research is the analysis of electronic business on the competitiveness on Lithuanian enterprises. The following goals are defined to realize the aim of the work: 1. To analyze and discuss the presumptions for electronic business origin and the course of its development. 2. To provide theoretic concepts for competitive superiorities and determine possibilities of e-business usage while modelling competitive advantages. 3. To determine the influence of electronic business on the competitiveness of Lithuanian business enterprises. Having analyzed the theoretical part of the work it is possible to argue that a unified, universally accepted and well-established description and concept for electronic business does not exist. Although, worldwide as well as in Lithuania there are known several modes and modifications of e-business, the most prevailing and employed are business for business (B2B) and business for customer (B2C) models. Permanent development of electronic markets and their movement condition the origin of new e- business approaches and models. E-business provides enterprises with the advantages that ensure their competitiveness. The practical part of the work deals with carrying out a semi structural interview that helped to ascertain that the current e-business situation in Lithuania is satisfactory. Although, e-business is developing, it still lags behind a lot of EU countries. On the other hand, despite the fact that Lithuanian enterprises face certain obstacles restraining e-business development, they have already used e-business decisions in certain spheres as sales; customer service, supply and management of human resources and due to this, have become more competitive than traditional enterprises that do not install e-business methods. The actual research suggests the conclusion that the above mentioned tendencies will remain in the future. The results prove the hypothesis that electronic business employed in the enterprise, increases its competitiveness.
