Abstract [eng] |
SUMMARY Cerebral circulation disorders have been an actual social, economic and psychological problem for people all over the world now. The most widely spread diseases are stroke, temporary stroke attack, haemorrhage. Many scientists emphasize the importance of good care and rehabilitation at the very beginning of the disease. Patients with cerebral circulation disorders need to be paid special attention and care as the further course of the patint’s recovery and quality of life depends on the quality of care taken of them. In Lithuania this subject has not been investigated thoroughly enough, I decided to turn to this subject and make my own contribution to it so as to study it on a more advanced level. The Aim of the Work: The object I propose to myself is to clear up all the problems which patients with cerebral circulation disorders face, to determine the peculiarities of taking care of them, to find out all the needs and requirements of nursing them, to evaluate the patient’s own contribution to the process of solving the problems appearing within the process of treatment. The tasks: 1. To find out the extent to wchich cerebral circulation disorders has spread among all those questioned. 2. To learn all the problems which patients with cerebral circulation disorders face. 3. To assess the role of the nurse in inpatient treatment. 4. To find out what the patients know about their disease and then to compare the information acquired wit that of the results of the medical investigation. 5. To evaluate the changes in the patients’ social life. The Object and Method of the Survey: The data included in this report was obtained by means of investigation of 210 patients with cerebral circulation disorders. All of them were hospitalised in Vilnius University First Aid Hospital, in M.Marcinkeviciaus Hospital (Neurologic Departments I, II). The questionnaire was carried out from December 2007 till April 2008. Results of the Work: 1. Problems caused by the cerebral circulation disorders are actual problem of the people of different age, sex, educational backgrounf and social status. Such diseases as stroke, temporary stroke attack, haemorrhage are mostly spread among elderly people of 57-93 years of age. It is known that women suffer from stroke often as men (p<0,05). 2. 61,4% of the patients need special care (p<0,04). The main problems of the patients facing cerebral circulation disorders are loss of memory, sensor – motor disorders, problems with eye-sight mental and psychic functions, less often speech, the function of swallowing, urination and defecation. 3. It has been found out that 92,4% of the in-patients are quite satisfied with the care taken of them by the nurses and positively assen it. This is proved by the fact that nurses cope with their duties quite well and know all the peculiarities of how to take care of patients with cerebral circulation disorders (p<0,05). 4. 62,8% of the patients didin’t care for the disease. 72,5% of the patients questioned their nurse about their disease which makes us think that besides the doctor, a nurse can become the main source of information. 5. Social life has changed for 77,8% of the patients questioned as such a change has been caused by the limited physical activity, disability, inferiority complex, loss of the social and professional status and the problem of social isolation. More than half of those questioned experience psychological discomfort, stress. Conclusion: The majority of the patients face a lot of problems caused by cerebral circulation disorders. Low level of education and lack of knowledge have a great influence on the increase of cases of stroke and are the reasons of slow recovery and complications. Not only should nurses pay attention to the physiological problems caused by cerebral circulation disorders, but also pay special attention to the patient’s psychological state, their education and social problems. |
