The methods of research: Theoretical review of scientific literature and publications; questionnaire survey designed to investigate the quality of life of patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency. International CIVIQ questionnaire was used for the survey. Statistical analysis was carried out using Excel 2007 and SPSS 17.0 software. Results and conclusions: 1. The quality of life of patients with chronic venous insufficiency who had undergone surgical treatment improved significantly after surgery. Female respondents evaluated the quality of life lower compared to male respondents both before and after surgery, although the quality of life of female patients improved more after surgery than that of male patients. Normal weight patients evaluated their quality of life before surgery higher than overweight patients and patients with obesity. The lowest quality of life before surgery was reported by patients with obesity. The quality of life improved significantly in all patient weight groups after surgery. The biggest improvement was in normal weight patients’ quality of life, while the least improvement was in the overweight patients’ quality of life. 2. The pain significantly decreased in patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency after surgical treatment (from „moderate pain“ to „mild pain“ or „no pain“). Females were feeling more severe pain before surgery than males. After surgery both male and female patients were feeling similar pain. Pain decreased more in female patients compared to male patients after surgery. 3. The physical domain of the quality of life of patients with chronic venous insufficiency improved significantly after surgical treatment. Females evaluated the physical domain of quality of life worse compared to males both before and after surgery. The older patients (aged 51 − 60) reported worse physical domain of quality of life before and after surgery than the younger patients (aged 41 − 50). 4. The psychological domain of the quality of life of patients with chronic venous insufficiency improved significantly after surgical treatment. Females reported worse psychological domain of quality of life before and after surgery compared to males. The worst evaluations of the psychological domain of quality of life before and after surgery were found among patients aged 51 − 60, the best evaluations were given by patients aged 31 – 40 and 41 – 50. 5. The social relations domain of the quality of life of patients with chronic venous insufficiency improved significantly after surgical treatment. Females evaluated social relations domain of quality of life worse before and after surgery compared to males.
