Investigation of adaptation in locust wing stretch receptor . O. Kaminskas Vilnius University, Faculty for Natural Sciences Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics Summary It is known that locust wing stretch receptor exhibit firing frequency adaptation when forewing is lifted to a constant position. Adaptation reduces excitability of stretch receptor. The recovery of stretch receptor from adaptation is gradual. The recovery of locust wing stretch receptor from adaptation was investigated. We found that dependence of recovery from adaptation on the duration of adaptation consists of two phases: an initial linear and following exponential one (n=14). During flight wing periodically moves and receptor’s response properties in dynamic mode may differ from static one. We recorded the response from locusta migratoria forewing stretch receptor while wing was periodically lifted (n=4) and investigated an adaptation in dynamic mode. We found that in dynamic mode an adaptation mostly prologs the last interspike interval in the burst. |
