Abstract [eng] The purpose of this paper: to test the cases of intestinal infection at Šiauliai County Hospital in 2008 microbiologically. The following goals were raised for the implementation of the purpose: to establish the agents of the intestinal infections and evaluate the seasonality of infections, evaluate the distribution of agents isolated according to the age and gender, establish and evaluate the susceptibility to antibiotics. The following was used for the isolation and verification of the intestinal pathogenic Salmonella enteritidis var. jena bacterium: dissemination, biochemical line and agglutination methods. The following was used for the identification of Yersinia enterocolitica: dissemination, biochemical line, Voges-Proskauer methods. Dissemination, microscopy, hippurate testing methods were used for the isolation and verification of Campylobacter jejuni bacterium. The main prevailing agents of intestinal infection diseases are: Salmonella enteritidis var. jena -59%, Campylobacter jejuni -19%, Yersinia enterocolitica -18%. The highest number of morbidity is registered in the worm period of time – summer, the lowest – winter. According to the gender the highest number of morbidity with intestinal infection diseases was registered in men - 51% and according to the age in children – more than 72%. Antibioticograms were made for overall cultures grown. Intestinal infection diseases caused by Campylobacter spp. bacterium are treated with the single antibiotic – Erythromycin. The susceptibility of Salmonella enteritidis var. jena, Yersinia enterocolitica to the following antibiotics were tested: ampicillin (AM), trimethoprim - sulfamethoxazole (SMX), norfloxacin (NFL), cefotaxime (CTX), chloramphenicol (C). Other different salmonella are isolated in laboratory: Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella C grupės, Salmonella B groups. The susceptibility of such bacterium for the following antibiotics was tested: ampicillin, trimethoprim- sulfamethoxazole, norfloxacin, cefotaxime and chloramphenicol. It was observed that the first two antibiotics are often interpreted as „resistant (R)“. Yersinia enterocolitica microorganism was isolated too. Intestinal infections caused by such bacterium we can treat with the same antibiotics as salmonellosis. It was observed that almost all Yersinia enterocolitica bacterium were resistant to antibiotic ampicillin. Therefore, yersinosis can not be treated with such medicine.
