Abstract [eng] Lithuania and Lithuanian population during the 20th century have suffered from armed conflicts, especially the occupations and the situation that developed in the years 1990-1991, during which war crimes or crimes, that are efficiently similar to war crimes, were perpetrated. Regarding the fact that qualification of the mentioned crimes depends not only on the evaluation of the before mentioned situations, but also on the treatment of war crimes, an overview of the latter, recognized in Lithuania, is submitted in this thesis, holding that the treatment of war crimes in a state is a reflection of the one set out in the international level. Noticing the need for a specific insight, not only the current implementation of war crimes, present in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, is overviewed in this thesis. Whereas there is also defined when the first foundation for the treatment of war crimes was set out in Lithuania, how was the approach changing towards these crimes and which might have been the reasons. Since more attention in this thesis is paid for the evolution of the treatment of war crimes in Lithuania, specific war crime elements request more attention, because of their obvious impact, which might issue subsequent changes. Recalling, that the treatment of war crimes, recognised by a state, is revealed while analysing the implementation of war crimes and the state practice of enforcing criminal responsibility, entailed by the latter, while willing to judge on the accuracy and consistency of the forth mentioned reflection, an overview of the Lithuanian Courts practice, regarding questions of war crimes or crimes, that are efficiently similar, is presented in this thesis. Subsequently, tendencies growing in the international level are also presented, since they are closely related to the treatment of war crimes and might have an important impact on the further changes towards the treatment in Lithuania and might even modify the direction of current state practice.
