Abstract [eng] Sex is one of the main difference between the same types of individuals defined by their anatomical physique and reproductive function in accordance with certain genetically determined characteristics of the individual. But it is not just a physiological factor, maily it is a social construct, constantly created and recreated during social interactions, it is the gender. To the development of gender roles and images, to their understanding, implementation and training process significantly contributing agents of socialization – family, education institutions, peers, and mass communication. In various men's and women's representations in society mass communication media shows the expected gender behavior, communication and performance standards, creates gender roles, which should make women and men in the respective environments. But often, images and representations in the media are summarized and simplified that is easily and clearly understood and accepted by many groups in society, but they more and more distort reality and increasingly move away from it. Therefore, the work raises problem of primitive and stereotyping gender roles and images presented in the media, that devastate personal liberty of the individual, create an artificial and misleading, gender roles and division of femininity and masculinity images. Master's thesis – gender roles and images. The aim – to analyze gender roles and images of web portals. Tasks: to analyze the concept of gender, to discuss concepts of gender roles and images also to examine femininity and masculinity concepts, to identify gender roles and images in the media and to analyze the relationship between femininity and masculinity in the media to carry out an analysis of selected Internet portals, and to examine how gender roles and images they presented. To reach the aim in the empirical study were used for content analysis research method – were examined for Internet portals and content of the article and illustrations of it. From an empirical study on Internet portals and analysis of the results led to the conclusion that gender representation on Internet portals match with the traditional approach to gender roles and perceptions, or images created by stereotypes, although there is a noticeable change. There were find these gender roles and images: a woman – mother, housewife, nurse and focused to family wife. She is obediently, sensitive, caring and dependent. A male – breadwinner, the head of family, a career man. He is strong, rational, determined and independent. In web portals were find the gender roles and images of new women and new men, which are opposed to traditional norms and destruct the established provisions.
