Abstract [eng] The object of diploma work is private library catalog. The aim of work is to analyze the private library catalog creation history and succession. Goals of diploma work: to analyze the possibilities of private library definition usage; to discuss private library catalog creation history and theoretical aspects; to reveal private library catalogs creation situation nowadays. Private library catalogs appeared when their creators understood that book collection is needed to be organized and publicized. The most effective way to do it is to create a catalog. Private library catalogs appeared in Lithuania the same period of time as in Europe. While reviewing private library catalog features of development, it emerged that the catalog form, bibliographic records element, structure, creating aims, where changing, improving. While analyzing bibliophiles’ private library catalogs, there were highlighted tendentious catalog creating principles, methodical decisions (record elements, classification, and the structure of the catalog). Nevertheless, it is clearly seen the creativeness of every person, who is making his private library catalog. It is important to mention, that private library catalog creating is not massive even between bibliophiles. Book catalog creating using one chosen method is important effective work condition. That is why, before creating a book catalog, it is essential to decide what collection part is to catalog, what is the main catalog creating goal, to choose catalog type. Presented catalog creating methodic and structure is signpost, catalog creating basis, sustaining to it, every book lover create private library catalog, referring to his needs, experience, objectives, aims. This work is could be useful for book science specialists and for all, who want to create private library catalog.
