Abstract [eng] The principle of non-discrimination is one of the most important elements of the protection of human rights. Human rights should not be discouraged and give them privileges on the basis of gender, race, nationality, language, origin, social status, religion, beliefs or views. In this work are analysed relations of equality and discrimination, the concept of discrimination, which laws it, international, national is consolidated the principle of non-discrimination. One of the anti-discrimination grounds is the prohibition to discrimination on the grounds of social status. The work present detailed understanding of the social situation. Since there are no such practices in Lithuania, therefore, the case law of Lithuania vacuum to fill and help the Office of the Equal Opportunities Ombudsman, established in 1998, which deals with people who have suffered discrimination complaints. The article research the prohibition to discrimination on the social status the establishment, execution and termination of contract, exceptions and guarantees that justify the different treatment of the work. It gives people who have suffered of discrimination remedies as well.
