Abstract [eng] The subject-matter of this thesis is the manifestation of the tabloidization in the Lithuanian periodicals and television. The objective of the thesis is to reveal the changes of information presentation in the Lithuanian mass communication of the recent years. The key tasks of the thesis are to discuss the particularity of the concept of tabloidization as well as determine the specifics of the changes of information presentation in the Lithuanian periodical press and television. Research methods. Review and analysis of the sources of literature, logical analysis and synthesis, as well as comparison. A quantitative analysis of the content is used in the practical part of the thesis. The conclusion is drawn in the thesis that due to the changes in the society – an increased flow of information, availability of different sources of information (in the sense of place and time), and significance of the news, which is getting more and more low – the functioning of the traditional mass media has been changing as well. The standards of information presentation have broken the mould in the Lithuanian periodicals and television during the last decade. In order to attract and keep the attention of the society, the Lithuanian media have visibly started using more of the means, catching the eye of the people, so called attention stimulators, a lot of attention now is given the image, dimensions, emotional expression of speech, figurative meaning, as well as narrative stylistics. Originality of the thesis. Today the analysis of the manifestation of the tabloidization in the Lithuanian periodical press and television, presented in the thesis, is considered to be relevant both in the context of the mass communication as well as in the interaction between the society and the mass communication. An unconventional attitude towards the phenomenon of the tabloidization is elaborated in the thesis, and the insight reveals new aspects of this process, which in such discourse have yet not been explored, though the manifestation of similar analysis might be found in some considerations of the Lithuanian mass media reviewers. This thesis might be useful for the representatives of the communication science, media analysts, and future students of these fields.
