In this thesis average and high disabled children‘s communication and speech/language specialities, their training, pedagogical experience when developing such children‘s communication and their speech/language has been analysed. The survey has been carried out among the parents and it has been found how mentally disabled children communicate with their parents. They encourage them praising. When developing the children‘s having low or high level of mental disability communication and language/speech skills, the teachers apply various teaching methods and measures. Such children usually have problems when expressing their opinion and ideas. Their reticence and lack of self-confidence cause difficulties to make a better relationship between such children and adults. Therefore, the teachers at the communication lessons use photos, drawings and realia. Also, the teachers use the eye contact, facial expressions, drawings and pictures when teaching such children. A great attention is paid for developing the children‘s verbal and nonverbal communication skills, as well.
