Abstract [eng] Relevance of the topic: Not all children can live and grow in families where they were born. In Lithuania foster home is almost the only institution that tries to compensate the lack of family for children who lost their parents care and help them to socialize. The object of this work is the integration of children living in care institutions into society and their future perspectives. The aim of the work is to analyze the peculiarities and future perspectives of children who live in foster home. Goals: 1. To discuss early intervention in childhood 2. To review the problem of children who have no parents care in Lithuania 3. To analyze the influence of care institution on child’s social development; 4. To analyze the integration of children who live in foster home into society and their future perspectives according to gender. Hypotheses: 1) Integration into society of boys and girls who live in foster home is different; 2) Future perspectives of boys and girls who live in foster home are different. In the work on the theoretical level one analyzes the topic of children who live in foster home and the influence of care institution on social development of children. The research data was gathered by providing respondents with a questionnaire that was prepared by the author and was of a semi-closed type. Questions were oriented towards the feelings, behavior, social needs that are necessary while adjusting to new environment considering undergone separation and deprivation. The research was based on principles of confidentiality and freewill. The data of the questionnaire was processed using usual descriptive statistical methods. Data was processed using SPSS statistical software. One calculated distribution of feature variable rates and relationship rates in a grip. Link between features was evaluated applying Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r), contingent coefficient (C) and Chi square criterion (X). The research was performed in temporary foster home, in family type foster home and boarding school. In total 200 people took part in the research, from them 108 boys and 92 girls. The research was carried out in 2007-2007. The age of people that were researched is 10-18 years old. When results were summarized, it was determined that in care institutions girls feel more physically and psychologically secure than boys. Boys more than girls think that pedagogues do not try to understand their physical needs, what things they need, etc. Girls more often worry than boys, but boys are more concerned than girls if after they leave foster home, they will find a place to stay, food, clothes, work, will it be very difficult to overcome obstacles independently, because teachers, educators will not be (are not) with them. Boys, more than girls, believe that after leaving foster home, they will feel secure, loved and happy. Most girls and boys that live in foster home still have not decided about their future profession, but there are more such persons among boys than girls. These results could be used for social employees, pedagogues, psychologists of temporary, family type care institutions or boarding schools, because they can help to understand better people that live in foster home and to provide them with necessary support solving existing problems and creating future plans.
