Abstract [eng] The object of this research is Joint-stock company „Šatrija“ and Lithuanian insurance company “Lietuvos Draudimas”. The main company “Satrija” specialists and executives were selected in order to investigate the opinion of company executives and specialists about the necessity and importance of employee evaluation system. The purpose of the survey is to find out what is the attitude of employees towards their work evaluation, and also to find out the main motives stimulating employees to work better in both companies. The whole research including collecting the material, research and data preparation took four months. Questionnaire form consisting of six questions was used for this research. While making this questionnaire all the factors which influenced the need of the employee evaluation system were taken into account. The test “Employee Activity Stimulating Motivation” contains fifty six questions. The answers to all questions helped to find out which eight motives were the most stimulating company employees. Questions starting from fifty seven to sixty were given to find out the most favorable evaluation method. Research method: the analysis of science informational literature, questionnaire, test, the analysis of graphical representation. Volume of work: seventy five pages, including three tables and twelve pictures. The whole work is divided into three parts: The first part includes theoretical material, such as motivation theory, the concept of staff evaluation, estimators. Several evaluation methods are emphasized; also the mistakes of evaluation are discussed. The second part includes information about research: questionnaire and the test which is to find out what motives stimulate the workers best. And the final part includes research results, which showed that such evaluation system is necessary in Joint-stock company „Šatrija“ and the analysis of the motives stimulating employee activity in both companies.
