Abstract [eng] THE AIM : Our aim was to evaluate the sleep quality in subjects with and without type 2 diabetes and to compare between these groups.OBJECTS AND METHODS OF STUDY: 272 type 2 diabetes subjects on patients and 388 persons who don’t have 2 type diabetes participated in the study. Men and women form 35 to 65 years of age were involved into the study. Respondents - members of BPG centers, Center clinic, patients of VULSK endocrinology, cardiology, cardiosurgery and gastroenterology divisions and members of Vilnius diabetes society. Data were collected using questionnaire. Evaluation of quality of subjective sleep was performed using Pitsburg sleep quality questionnaire. All data were stored in a computer database (Microsoft Exell). Statistical data analysis was performed by personal computer, using 13th version of SPSS program. Data was supplied counting arithmetical average of rates, their standard deviation (+/-SD) and interest-bearing values of sizes. Relations between quantitative values were evaluated using Pearson correlation. Data was held statistically significat if p < 0.05. CONCLUSIONS: the quality of sleep in type 2 diabetes subjects on patients was significantly worse than of healthy. After the evaluation of sleep quality of type 2 diabetes subjects on patients in relation to body weight, age and sex, we made a conclusion, that low quality of sleep was more common between women, older aged and those who had overweight and were obese. We have defined that chronics diseases were more often between type 2 diabetes subjects on patients, but only heart decompensation and thyroid dysfunctions had influence on low quality of sleep. After analysing the relation between complications of type 2 diabetes we have concluded, that retinophaty and neuropaty had bad influence on quality of sleep. After evaluation of influence of education level, financial, marital state and emotional health of participants on sleep quality, we have concluded, that sleep quality of lonely people was worse than of those who had partner. Bad financial situation, emotional health and unloved activity or absence of it, also decreased quality of sleep.
