Abstract [eng] The paper discusses a role of women in the Second Republic of Lithuania 's political life. Analyzing historical perspective, focusing on the evolution of women's rights, women's social, cultural and economic situation in Lithuania until the beginnging of 20th century. Overviewed the legal regulation of women's rights in these historical periods and after 1990. Analysing Lithuania’s women - members of Parliament, Municipal Council members, political parties of the Republic of Lithuanian members. The aim of a paper - to analyse the role of women in the Second Republic’ of Lithuania political life, it’s origins, evolution and current situation. Performed a qualitative research ( interviews) about an attitude of politicians (men and women) regarding women's participation in the Lithuanian political life. Formulated conslusion, that historically status of women in Lithuania was affected by different political, economic, religious and social factors. Lithuania gave to women a voing right in 1918, leading between other European countries, but the Soviet years, although declared a feminism ideas and democratic values, almost completely eliminated the women from political life, political power structures and law- making de facto. This situation began to improve only in the period of the Second Republic of Lithuania. Now women's participation in politics in Lithuania are similar to situation in many other countries of Europe and the world. The number of women in the political structures is too small for the equal gender representing. A qualitative study shows, that one of the main factors, interfering women’s political rights is a historically formed traditional patriarchal society approach, a habitude to see a male person ir a government and political arena; this view affects not onlymen, but aldo women public opinion. By informants opinion, a women's political perspective is broad enough, because the influence of women in politics is gradually increasing. Women’s participating in political life would activate a family policy development, which could affect women’s economical situation; the country's economic expansion, promotion of women entrepreneurship to ensure higher women income, press and media influence in affecting a public attitudes to women - politicians, as well as the general public tolerance development.
