Abstract [eng] The theme of Master’s thesis is ‘Woman‘s social identity in Renata Šerelytė‘s prose’, which focuses on the analysis of woman’s identity. Writer Renata Šerelytė describes public and family relations problems. The most important in the thesis is social relations. Šerelytė’s protagonists are not mainly typical Soviet time people, they try to create their individuality and identity in their acceptable way. The woman becomes the work central-line of the analysis in the Master thesis. In the novels ‘Ice-age stars’ (1999) and ‘Bluebeard’s children’ (2008) as well as the book of short stories ‘Embalmer’ (2006), the writer strives to develop woman’s social identity, designing femininity penetrated with Soviet times realia. The evoking Soviet times topics of modern literature is natural as Soviet themes have not been emptied yet, in addition the person who lived in the Soviet times is curious to search for the identity which was designed by Soviet times. The woman in the analyzed discourse tries to analyze her life, its sense. This way Šerelytė strives to return and glance at sores of these times, which are sensed by the author concentrating attention not on historicism but fragmentarily referring to people’s consciousness, feelings and experience.
