Abstract [eng] Dissertation is dedicated to the investigation of semantic naturalism – the orthodox approach in contemporary philosophy of mind aiming to propose a “naturalistic” explanation of semantic properties. Dissertation analyzes the predominant form of semantic naturalism based on principles of scientific naturalism: it clarifies the domain of the problem, reconstructs and proposes an interpretation of its methodological assumptions, and explicates the idea of “naturalization”. It also analyzes the philosophical theories that are presupposed by the standard version of semantic naturalism – the doctrine of semantic externalism, the functionalist ontology of mind and the representationalist theory of mind – clarifies their interrelation, and proposes a conception of the predominant form semantic naturalism that locates the paradigm in a wider philosophical perspective. After a critical analysis of the presupposed theories, the thesis argues for the view that a theory of intentionality based on categories of ability and power is a more viable perspective than the predominant approach, grounded on internal states, mental representations and its naturalistic content determining factors.
