Abstract [eng] |
The introductory chapter of the edited volume “Anthropology: A Humanistic Science” discusses the current landscape of the discipline of anthropology, focusing on the persistent divide between scientific and humanistic approaches within the field. It provides an overview of the diverse topics covered in the volume, including the history and nature of social anthropology, various methodological frameworks for data analysis, as well as issues such as religion, family, ethnicity, social exclusion, environmental concerns, and the state's regulation of precarious labor. From a methodological perspective, different chapters in this volume rely on traditional ethnographic methods, such as interviews, conversations, and participant observation, alongside historical, free-list, theoretical, and methodological analysis. The chapters present empirical research conducted in countries such as China, Poland, Palestine-Israel, Mongolia, Ukraine, India, and Lithuania, while also offering theoretical analysis that transcends specific regional contexts. |
