Total number of figures – 12 Total number of tables – 4 Total number of references – 51 Alternative asset class have always attracted investors with higher returns and diversification opportunity. In Baltics the alternative assets’ funds are relatively young and still developing. This research is focusing on private capital funds including private equity and venture capital funds development in Baltic region. Thesis main aim is to evaluate and analyze the potential and the development of alternative investment funds while focusing on private capital funds in Baltic states. Thesis objectives: 1. To review and understand key theoretical alternative assets concepts. 2. To review current alternative investment market dynamics. 3. To identify most important factors and challenges in the market development. 4. To provide practical recommendations for private capital market development. Research sample size – 9 experts from the private equity, venture capital or angel syndicates funds which are investing in Baltic region-based companies. For analysis, the qualitative insights and logical comparison methods were used. Research results have confirmed both hypotheses as correct. Reviewed literature and qualitative research synthesis results that while the Baltic market is yet emerging, there is a high potential. However, that strongly depends on government support through funding, efficient regulatory system creation and business incentives. |
