Abstract [eng] |
This thesis examines Beyoncé's 2024 album COWBOY CARTER and how it reveals the artist's notion of authenticity. The analysis is carried out on the basis of Charles Taylor's definition of authenticity and the three models of racial identity identified by Paul Gilroy (racial essentialism, racial anti-essentialism, and racial anti-anti-essentialism), which act as guidelines and orientations for the analysis of the album. The thesis presents an integral and three-dimensional analysis of the album - in line with Gilroy's three models of racial identity - that interprets how Beyoncé searches for, articulates and reveals her own authenticity. |
