Abstract [eng] |
This work analyses the legal framework and challenges associated with the application of artificial intelligence in the national security domain, with a particular focus on European Union legislation. The European Union, as a supranational organization, has adopted a human-centric approach to artificial intelligence governance, which influences national security operations through its supranational security framework. Nonetheless, the European Union cannot deprive national security institutions of artificial intelligence capabilities essential for achieving informational superiority, despite the inherent risks. Doing so could undermine their ability to address internal and external threats effectively, leaving member states vulnerable in an increasingly complex security landscape. |
