Relations Between Occupational Therapist’s Working Environment, Functional Movements and Quality of Life The Author: rehabilitation master student – Kotryna Charkova. Prolonged sedentary work situation, together with inappropriate workplace ergonomics, irregularly formed motion due to bad habits or pain, is one of the main reasons for the emergence of pain and occupational diseases. In the work due to experienced reasons of discomfort decrease satisfaction of life quality at work. In Lithuania there are no studies, how workplace, functional movements affect quality of life in the occupational therapist workplace. Also, in foreign literature lack of information, or it is too old, untill 2003, which explains occupational therapists working conditions and their impact on quality of life. There are no studies of occupational therapists functional movements. The aim of the research. To fix the relations between occupational therapists workplace, functional movements and quality of life. Hypothesis. Working sedentary job at not ergonomically adapted environment, appears occupational diseases resulting risk, decrease quality of life. Research object. Lithuanian occupational therapy specialists, who work in sedentary jobs. The goals of the research: 1. Identify occupational therapists environment. 2. Identify occupational therapists functional movements.. 3. Identify the quality of life in the workplace. 4. Set the job workplace match, functional movements and quality of life correlations. 5. Identify the most influencing factors that determine a better quality of life. Research methods. Carried out the one-moments research in Lithuanian occupational therapists workplace, without prejudice to the territory. At the reasearch time occupational therapists, who work sedentary job, were anonymously interviewed. It is concluded one profile of several questionnaires. Set up profile criterias of inclusion and exclusion. Valued workplace ergonomic dimensions, according to the preselected three physical principles of ergonomics. Valued workplace, functional movements and quality of life at the workplace. The results are analyzed and described in research conclusions. Results. In summary, the main results showed that Lithuanian occupational therapists assess workplace of 58 jobs, none of them was ergonomically correct. A statistically significant relationship was between certain components of ergonomic workplace ergonomic correctness and regularity and quality of life. Functional movements were not statistically significant than the quality of life outcomes than with ergonomic parameters of the data obtained. The workstation ergonomic correctness to be seen holistically. What is important is that one parameter ergonomic irregularity can lead to other ergonomic errors and poorer quality of life assessment. Research conclusions. One ergonomic parameter irregularity can lead to other mistakes ergonomics and appearance of pain and less satisfaction with the quality of life in the workplace, and workplace ergonomic adjustment and ergonomic staff training is an effective tool to reduce / avoid pain and thus quality of life in the workplace. |
