Abstract [eng] The Master's thesis in detail analyses the legal norm of trafficking in human beings set out in Article 147 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, using international and national normative legal acts. Trafficking in human beings is considered a serious crime in the European Union and is regulated by international legislation, which condemns it and provides for criminal liability. States are developing various action plans to combat trafficking in human beings. A detailed analysis of this legal provision is provided, distinguishing between the object of the offence, the subject/victim, the objective elements (the dangerous act, the means of committing the offence) and the subjective elements (guilt and intent). The qualified elements of the offence as set out in Article 147(2) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania (commission of the offence of trafficking in human beings by two or more victims, commission of the offence by an organised group, etc.) are also discussed. The link between the trafficking in human beings norm and other norms of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania (profiting from the prostitution of another person (Article 307 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania), exploitation for forced labour or services (Article 147-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania), etc.) is also examined. Attention is paid to a specific norm of the law on trafficking in human beings - the purchase and sale of a child. Trafficking in human beings is an ever changing phenomenon, as those involved come up with new ways of doing it. It is important to encourage people to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to prevent an increase in human trafficking cases.
