Abstract [eng] Title. Assessment of Patients' Well-Being and Understanding Related to Endodontic Treatment Through a Questionnaire. Relevance of the problem and aim of the work. Endodontic infection affects 52% of the World's population. Treatment of endodontic diseases is essential for tooth preservation. Untreated endodontic infections can lead to tooth loss and systemic complications. Therefore, endodontic treatment is important from a public health perspective. The troot canal treatment has a high success rate. However, patients' choice to undergo root canal treatment is influenced by their perception and psychological well-being regarding this treatment. Root canal treatment is often associated with psychological stress. The anxiety or fear associated with root canal treatment stems from personal experiences, information from the environment or lack of understanding of the treatment. It has been shown that anxiety or fear related to dental treatment often leads to avoidance of professional oral healthcare. As oral health deteriorates, psychological well-being becomes more severe and a cycle of these factors grows. Data on well-being and understanding related to root canal treatment in Europe are extremely limited. This study aims to assess patients' understanding and well-being in relation to root canal treatment. Material and methods. A questionnaire reflecting patients' well-being, understanding and comorbidities related to endodontic treatment was modelled based on the most recent scientific literature and validated with a small group of subjects. The study involved patients visiting Vilniaus universiteto ligoninės Santaros klinikų filialas Žalgirio klinika for endodontic treatment. The questionnaires were administered randomly before or after the visit by the person treating the patients. The data obtained were processed and statistically analysed using the IBM SPSS 30.0 software package. Results. Patients who have undergone root canal treatment understand the importance of root canal treatment (85.2%), the objectives (81.5%), and the significance for tooth preservation (94.4%). Explanation of root canal treatment by the doctor is associated with better patient understanding. During root canal treatment, 35.2% of patients experience anxiety and 11.1% experience fear. Patients with a poorer understanding of root canal treatment experience worse psychological well-being, worse emotions and more pain during treatment. Conclusion. Patients who have undergone root canal treatment have a good understanding of this treatment. Patients' well-being during root canal treatment is related to their understanding of root canal treatment.
