Introduction: The evaluation of mental healthcare service quality and effectiveness is crucial for optimizing treatment processes and ensuring patient well-being. Routine Outcome Monitoring, using standardized psychometric instruments such as CORE-10, Beck Depression Inventory and Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale, allows for systematic data collection on changes in patient condition. Reliable tools could be useful for assessing patient treatment progress at the Republican Vilnius Psychiatric Hospital. Aim of the work: This study aimed to determine the treatment progress of patients at RVPL using the CORE-10 questionnaire and to compare these results with the results from the GAD-7 and BDI-II questionnaires. Methodology: The study involved 34 patients (28 females, 6 males) from Day Hospital department of RVPL. Patients completed the CORE-10, GAD-7, and BDI-II questionnaires twice: at the beginning of treatment and during the third/fourth or final week of treatment. Data analysis utilized the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality, Student's t-test for paired samples or the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test, and Pearson or Spearman correlation coefficients. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results: A statistically significant decrease in the mean scores of all three questionnaires was observed between the first and second administrations: the CORE-10 mean score decreased from 18.06 to 14.03; the GAD-7 mean score from 11.11 to 6.17; and the BDI-II mean score from 22.28 to 16.45. This indicates an improvement in patients mental state. Furthermore, a strong correlation was found between all questionnaires at both the first and second administrations. Conclusions: The study confirmed that the mental state of patients treated at the RVPL Day Hospital significantly improved, as assessed by the CORE-10, GAD-7, and BDI-II questionnaires. The strong correlation found among these instruments suggests that they measure closely related aspects of general psychological distress, anxiety, and depression, and can comprehensively reflect changes in patients mental state during treatment. |
