Abstract [eng] The popularity and convenience of the internet have led to an increasing trend of users seeking health-related information on social media. This study aimed to examine the impact of the content tone and perceived truthfulness of online health-related information on young adults‘ attitudes toward their health behaviour. A total of 135 young adults participated: 110 women, 23 men, and 2 individuals who either did not disclose their gender or chose “other,” aged between 19 and 27. Stimuli included 20 Facebook posts developed in a pilot study: 10 formal and 10 personal tone. A between-subjects experimental design with independent measures was used. Additionally, the „Gyvenimo būdo” questionnaire (Pukinskaitė & Žentelytė, 2014) was used. The results showed that post tone had no significant impact on perceived credibility or attitudes toward health behavior. Likewise, perceived credibility did not correlate with attitude towards health behavior. However, time spent on social media was associated with attitudes toward health behavior and certain “Gyvenimo būdo” questionnaire scales. Future research should explore additional factors affecting these perceptions.
