Abstract [eng] 79 pages, 34 charts, 2 pictures, 71 references. The main purpose of this master's thesis is to analyze and evaluate how the role of the leader and leadership style influence business process management and employee engagement. This master thesis is concluded of three main parts: scientific literature analysis, empirical research and its results, conclusions and recommendations. The review of scientific literature provided insights into previous research conducted in this field and how the role of the leader and different leadership styles affect business process management as two distinct concepts. This study explores the influence of two independent variables – leadership role and leadership style – on business process management and employee engagement. Employee engagement was chosen as one of the independent variables, as the literature review identified links between leader behaviors and employee involvement. Many global and innovation-driven companies face significant challenges, making leadership a critical factor for effective and smooth business process management. Based on both literature analysis and empirical research findings, the thesis reveals that leadership styles – particularly transformational and transactional leadership – are especially effective in strengthening the management of “healthy” processes and increasing employee engagement. Furthermore, the analysis shows that the leader's role (and its various dimensions, beyond just communication) also has a positive and direct impact on the health of business processes, their management, and employee engagement. Based on results, conclusions were conducted in the last part, along with recommendations for businesses and organizations. The results are considered very valuable to organizations if they want to improve „healthy“ business process management and employee engagement.
