Abstract [eng] Wrestling is one of the most complex sports, requiring a high level of physical, technical and psychological preparation. In order to achieve optimal athletic performance, especially during the competitive period, it is necessary to apply individualised, scientifically based training strategies. It should be noted that no publications on the training of high-performance wrestlers have been found in the Lithuanian context. Therefore, a scientific problem arises as to how to better prepare Lithuanian wrestlers for the most important competitions, how to qualitatively apply the training of athletes in the existing conditions, and how to identify the main actions that affect the progress of wrestlers' mastery and the change of results during the competition. Object of the study: wrestler's training and fitness. Research hypothesis: physical fitness and emotional state are likely to be the most important parameters/factors in the preparation of a high performance wrestler to achieve the highest level of performance in the competition period. Aim of the study: to investigate the training of a female wrestler of high athletic ability during the competitive period, to assess the process of training through the indicators of physical development and functional fitness and emotional state. Results: The results of the study showed that targeted physical and functional training has a positive impact on the athlete's condition during the competition period. Progress in muscular strength and agility was documented, and Rufier test data showed a gradual improvement in cardiac response to exercise. Mood ratings were mostly positive, but temporary emotional fluctuations were observed before the most important competition. Although physical performance improved, peak performance in international competitions was not achieved, suggesting that psychological factors may have a decisive influence on athletic performance.
