Abstract [eng] |
While performing water quality monitoring in Trakų Vokė wellfield it was noticed that since 2006 the concentration of chlorinated hydrocarbons (TCE and PCE) had been tracked in Trakų Vokė wellfield and was constantly increasing until 2015. Trakų Vokė area has complicated geological structure and hydrogeological conditions so in order to design drainage zone of earlier mentioned wellfield it was decided to create several mathematical groundwater models. The results proved that Aukštųjų Panerių wellfield, which together with Trakų Vokė wellfield is treated as a single unit, drains groundwater from Aukštųjų Panerių industrial area. After that, the analysis of potential contamination areas and ecogeological studies had been performed, but contamination source, which might affect the groundwater quality in Trakų Vokė wellfield, was not found. In accordance with the data which was gathered during the fieldwork and model which was created after fieldwork, we can state that contamination is relatively close to wellfield, contaminants are denser than water and are able to sink to the bottom of the aquifer. In order to track it is necessary to perform large-scale study with dense monitoring network, geophysical investigations, etc. While the contamination area is not found yet, it is necessary to clear the groundwater and the most efficient way to do that is to combine Air Stripping method with active carbon filtration. |
