The dissertation examines the financial accounting for forests managed by business entities and the presentation of information, provided the financial statements of these entities. The aim of the dissertation is to assess the compliance of information on forests, provided in the financial statements of forestry managing enterprises, with the fundamental and other enhancing qualitative characteristics of financial information and to establish a financial accounting model for forests managed by business entities. The aim has been achieved by employing the following research methods: scientific literature, content analysis, expert evaluation, questionnaire survey and others. The results of the empirical survey of the financial accounting policies and practices, used in the Lithuanian forestry enterprises, revealed that the financial information provided by these enterprises quite often does not correspond to the fundamental and other enhancing qualitative characteristics of financial information. The conceptual model of financial accounting for forests managed by business entities, has been established as an open input-process-output system, which is based on the consistency of the accounting process of elements, included in the financial statements, and enables the forest managing business entities, in their financial statements, to provide the qualitative financial information on forests. This information can be beneficial to the users of information of financial statements in making management, investment and other economic decisions. The presented model can be used in the processes of improving the forest financial accounting regulation. Also, on the basis of the constructed model, more detailed methodology of financial accounting for forests can be developed. |
