Abstract [eng] Genus Batrachium (DC.) S.F. Gray. or Ranunculus L. sect. Batrachium DC. is one of the most complicated taxonomic groups of aquatic plants. The difficulties of species identification according to morphological features arise mainly from extreme phenotypic plasticity, morphological reduction and frequent hybridization. Simplified morphology and variable taxonomic interpretation of the group, often makes identification to species level very difficult. During this study, the morphological characteristics of Batrachium species were studied, genetic diversity was evaluated and the plant communities with Batrachium species were described in Lithuanian rivers. Our study revealed that not all morphological characters of the Batrachium suitable for species identification in Lithuanian rivers. The studies revealed a low degree of genetic diversity, high level of genetic differentiation and low level of gene flow between populations of riverine Batrachium species in Lithuania. The two communities with Batrachium (Ranunculetum fluitantis) and (Ranunculetum pseudofluitantis) were described in Lithuanian rivers. Studies of the impact of water tourism on the sustainability of the populations of the Batrachium in the River Ūla indicate a negative impact on plants.
