In my work I analyze the relation of material and spiritual culture as the basis for creating paintings. Through expressionistic painting, by distorting the world and its material objects, I create a duality of visual art between an idea and a real fragment of reality. All works in the collection "Fragments of Reality" are structured compositionally that creates a certain mood and emotion. A symbolic meaning which is important to me while creating a collection of paintings can be perceived in my works. The viewer can comprehend my works as a spontaneous result of expressive painting. This pictorial expression, the broad touch, and the roughness of the line is organic for me. I perceive the field of creativity as an attempt to improve in the pictorial expression and in the emotion, about which Read H. says: "The inner element,i.e. the emotion must exist; otherwise the work of art will not be true. “(Read H. 1994, 64) In the 1970's, artists A.J. Kuras, K. Dereškevičius, A. Švėgžda, A. Šaltenis sought to raise the fundamental values and social problems of that era. Artists presented them in their works using images of everyday life, such as public transport, moldering objects of the material environment. |
