This thesis presents the possibilities of the semantic network and ontological technologies, that if applied with certain software modules, could allow not only human beings but also computers to interpret data and come up with relevant conclusions. It examines the principles of how such network operates and what possibilities it could offer if it is used in the global network. The thesis aims to showcase how the semantic network and ontological technologies can be used in the field of pharmaceutics. First, the paper reviews some cases of applied ontologies in other fields and analyses the methods used in their development and application. Following that, this work discusses the methods that could be implemented in the field of pharmaceutics, particularly focusing on how it could allow to conduct the search of specific medicines. Furthermore, it describes the prototype that is specifically created in order to run the information search in the context of particular medicine or following certain parameters to identify required medicine. Besides, the paper evaluates how complex the performance of the model function is and identifies the areas for improvement and its possible applications in the future. |
