Abstract [eng] The lexical approach to foreign language teaching and learning encourages drawing learners’ attention to collocations and explicitly teaching lexical combinations. This paper presents the findings of a study on how collocational information is illustrated in a corpus composed of Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL) textbook, exercise books, and other resources aimed at developing this aspect of lexical competence. The materials were selected for a target group of university students of Spanish as a foreign language in Lithuania. The article highlights the role of dictionaries in developing learners’ lexical competence and underscores the benefits of bilingual dictionaries, particularly those that emphasize common and natural word combinations, such as the online Lithuanian-Spanish dictionary.
